Medical Disclaimer: Not Healthcare Advice
The information and calculations provided by VitaminDcalc are intended strictly for educational, research, and informational purposes. VitaminDcalc is not a medical device, and the calculated exposure times do not constitute medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. Always consult a qualified physician or dermatologist regarding your vitamin D status, blood testing (25(OH)D), prescription supplements, or personal skin cancer risk factors.
1. Nature of the Model
Exposure estimates are generated using mathematical and atmospheric models (including CIE erythema action spectrum and the Holick rule of thumb). Actual UV irradiance varies continuously with real-time ozone fluctuations, aerosol levels, altitude, surface reflection (albedo), microclimates, and individual biological differences. No mathematical model can guarantee an exact blood serum vitamin D response.
2. Sun Safety & Burn Prevention
Sunburn (erythema) causes DNA damage to skin cells and increases the lifetime risk of skin cancer. You agree to prioritize skin safety at all times. Never remain in the sun if your skin feels hot, irritated, or begins to turn pink. The World Health Organization (WHO) recommends using broad-spectrum sun protection whenever the UV Index is 3 or higher.
3. Limitation of Liability
By using this site, you acknowledge that you do so voluntarily at your own discretion. VitaminDcalc and its contributors assume no liability for any adverse effects, sunburns, skin conditions, or damages resulting from the use or interpretation of the estimates provided.
